Help for Access Control Lists

Use this form to specify the name of a directory that you want to protect with an access control list (ACL) file.

ACL Files

You can use ACL files to limit access to specific files on a directory that is already protected by a protection setup.

Usually, a protection setup is used to define the first level of access control and then an ACL file further limits access. However, when you want all control to come from an ACL file, you can override a protection setup by checking the Allow any ACL file to override masks on the Protection Setup form.

ACL files are named .www_acl and placed on the protected directory. Each protected directory can have only one ACL file.

To specify a directory that you want to create an ACL file for:

  1. Enter the fully qualified path name of the directory in the Directory field.
  2. Click on Apply to update your server with the changes you made to the form.

Click on Reset if you want to return to the values that were on the from before you made changes.
